"Paper should be edible, nutritious. Inks used for printing or writing should have delicious flavors. Magazines or newspapers read at breakfast should be eaten for lunch. Instead of throwing one's mail in the waste-basket, it should be saved for the dinner guests."

Magazine: layout, production

$pread Magazine is an award winning [Utne Reader, The Village Voice and The Nation] quarterly in it's fourth year of publication.

As Art Director, I used in InDesign to create the magazine's template, utilizing styles and master pages. I source images from illustrators and photographers, and have developed a consistent look for the publication. I've created the cover, editorial fashion and column layouts, as well as desining ads, and the media kit.

Promotional: flyers, posters

Getting handed a flyer for an upcoming event is one of the best ways to ensure someone will take note of your show - getting something that is cost-effective and will get read? That's what I like to do. [Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator]

Retail Signage: hang tags and posters

Exile is a family owned vintage store in the heart of Toronto's Kensington Market. Their look has a red and yellow theme, and the red and black poster and tag were developed as possible signage for an upcoming retail project. [Photoshop]

Academic Signage: posters

The Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics Department at Columbia University wanted oversized posters to highlight their faculty and new students, departmental signage, and posters for upcoming events. [Photoshop, Illustrator]

Performers: print ads, t-shirt, CD/EP covers

For performers and artists, visibility is paramount, and I've had the pleasure of designing print ads, tshirts logos, and CD /EP covers. [Photoshop]

Books: catalog, cover and interior [mockups]

I love books, and so I develop interior layout mockups for fun. I'd appreciate the challenge of laying out a full book.

Financial: information design, newsletter

Professional Financial Services is a small full-service investment company in Rochester, NY. I worked with them in 1999-2001 to develop their client communications, including a newsletter, brochure and charts.
